Problem

I. In January 1944, Nathan Schnurman, a 17-year-old Navy seaman, volunteered to test protective clothing for the Navy. He used a gas mask and special clothes and was locked in a 10 x 10 feet chamber, where Sulfur mustard and Lewisite (poisonous gasses used in chemical weapons) were released into the chamber. For five days, he sat for one hour each day inside the chamber. On the final day, he became nauseous, his eyes and throat began to burn, and he asked twice to leave the chamber. However, he was told he needed to remain until the experiment was complete. He then collapsed and went into cardiac arrest, and when he finally awoke, he had painful blisters on most of his body.

However, studies are limited because the immune system of humans and rats differ. Recently, to mimic the immune system of humans in mice, humanized mouse models have been established. Scientists do it by transferring human genes to the immunodeficient mice or by transferring human cells or tissues to the mice.
