Strategic Plan Overview:
Submit a 350-word paper that gives a general overview of the organization you will be using to create your Strategic Plan. Include a brief background of the organization and its mission, vision, and values. In addition, include the main purpose (product or service) of the organization and the last 5 years of annual sales and net income. Also include the trading symbol and exchange the company stock is traded on if a public company. Your instructor must approve the organization you choose. Post this assignment to the “Assignments” Forum by Monday

Class: This week you have the job of finding a company for your strategic plan project. Here are some ideas for your choices:
Use your own company, subsidiary, division, or department
Use a company you are interested in:
A new company you plan to start
A company or competitor you wish to learn more about
A division or subsidiary of a company
A non-profit organization
A federal, state or local government department
As you can see there is quite a bit of latitude on your choice. It is better to spend your time on something productive as opposed to just an exercise. But whichever one you select it must be a public company, or one you can get complete financials or budgets on with a release to publish for this class. The information will be treated as confidential and only posted in the Assignments Forum.
It would be a good idea to look at the Suggested Strategic Plan Outline on your resource to see what information you will need in the final paper as you consider your company selection. If you follow this guideline you will be OK but I will be reviewing your choice and sending you my feedback by the end of the week. I have copied the Strategic Plan Outline at the end of this post for your information. As we approach the assignments for these sections I will be posting more HELP instructions.
Here are the required 10 topics for this first paper which are slightly different and expanded from the Syllabus instruction. Please use these as is as sub-headings in the paper so I can quickly read and digest exactly what you are proposing. I will need to give you the go-ahead and do not want to read 20 individual formats to get at the essential information. 350 words for this assignment is not very long so short answers to the topics are suggested. I do take off for excessive or short length - usually within + - 10% is a good target to shoot for on any assignment word requirements.
