Memorandum (Parking Services at USF)
The University of South Florida has more than 37,000 undergraduate students, a majority of whom are commuters that rely on cars to transport them to campus. To complicate matters further, students tend to need parking at the same set intervals based on class times, which are similar across the disciplines. Although the campus is large with major thoroughfares, sidewalks, and parking garages, students and faculty nevertheless encounter problems trying to find parking. Students will often spend 10-30 minutes searching for parking during the peak times between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Given how aggravating it is to search for parking and how it is a daily frustration, students consider it a high priority.
Many students miss class because they can't find a parking place. Students waste a lot of time and energy. It creates a lot of avoidable problems. It is crucial to address the parking situation to help students.
