Spina Bifida Cystica
There is a protrusion of meninges and spinal cord
a) Meningocele-it is relatively uncommon lesion (4-5 per cent). In this there is protrusion of meninges only.
b) Meningomyelocele-it is one of the commonest lesion (90-95 per cent). In this there is protusion of meninges with dysplasia of the spinal cord. Clinically this is always accompanied with neurological signs. There are two types:
i) Myelocele (open type)
ii) Myelocele (closed type)
