Socialization of men and women

Problem:

Socialization of Men and Women that Shape Attitudes on Sexual Violence Sexual violence (also referred to as sexual assault) is define as "unwanted sexual contact that could include touching of a sexual nature, oral sex, sexual intercourse, anal sex, or sexual penetration with a finger or object" (Wright & Tokunaga, 2016). Sexual assault in the U.S. is found to take place "every 98 seconds" (Champlin, Everbach, & Sarder, 2017) especially prevalent against women perpetrated by men. A review on ten articles is conducted to assess theories and research designs that argue the best possible approach on sexual violence prevention and response. To design effective preventive measures, it is imperative to look into underlying factors that allow sexual violence to endure. Studies reviewed analyze the double-edged role of media (Aroustamian, 2020; Champlin, Everbach, & Sarder, 2017; PettyJohn et al., 2019; Skorska, Hodson, & Hoffarth, 2018; Wright & Tokunaga, 2016) as enabler to the culture of sexual violence against women as well as a solution to ameliorate existing preventive measures in workplaces and schools. Furthermore, the role and experiences of men, often overlooked, are found to provide substantial contribution to existing body of knowledge necessary to construct more inclusive and, in return, more effective solutions (Cole et al., 2020; Holz, Fischer, & Daood, 2018; Rothman, 2018; Skorska, Hodson, & Hoffarth, 2018; Witte et al., 2017; Wright & Tokunaga, 2016; Zinzow et al., 2018). The research studies provided intersecting views on the differences on attitudes and behaviors. Need Assignment Help?
