Should you pay the bill should you return the unused bottle

Case Scenario: (Summarized, please read the full scenario in your textbook) Heather is a new Administrative Assistant at the Waialae Country Club in Honolulu, Hawaii. She received a phone call from a salesperson that identified himself as representing the vendor of copier toner that the Country Club purchases for their office copier. He said they had a great current deal on the price of toner. Heather innocently believed it would be good to order some toner, and, unaware that it was a high-pressure sales scam by a competing toner company, she placed an order with them. The toner was shipped, but upon receiving it; Heather, her Bookkeeper Maureen, and Manager Steven, were shocked to find the toner bottles execessively more costly than their regular vendor, and the toner was found to be of insufficient quality when it started causing faint and streaked copies. Steven realized they had been scammed into the purchase. At this point, they had already started using one of two bottles. Steven accepted that Heather had not been fully trained; and he did not blame her, but instead told her of the circumstances, and also developed a new purchasing policy. Steven now must write a claim letter, attempting to persuade the toner company, Copy Machine Specialists, to reconcile the problem you feel they caused.

Assignment (Your Task):  As Steven Tanaka, the Manager at the Honolulu Country Club, decide how to respond to this obvious scam. Some points to consider: Should you pay the bill? Should you return the unused bottle of toner? Write a persuasive claim letter to Copy Machine Specialists.

Format: Develop this as a letter to an external organization, with appropriate letter components. The length shall be one full page.

Helpful Hint: This is an effort requiring the development of a persuasive message; convincing the vendor of unsatisfactory pricing, poor product, and misrepresentation, in your attempt to regain some of your losses. Even though this is a potential emotionally-charged complaint; use objective, moderately toned, and rational reasoning in your letter writing.
