Should the victim of a breach of contract pursue

Problem

Victims of a breach of contract often have a variety of remedies that they can pursue. In many cases, attorneys may recommend that victims pursue remedies there are explicitly provided within an agreement or that can be readily obtained. In many cases, these remedies are smaller in terms of financial value than other larger restitution that may, in theory, be pursued. Should the victim of a breach of contract pursue the most expedient solution? How can this victim determine the correct path, and what should be considered?

Can you cite any resources used so I can go back and read the source?
