Right ventral prefrontal cortex activation

Problem:

How can I make notes with bullet points in this paragraph? In one study, young adults played a ball- tossing game on the computer (Eisenberger FIGURE 8.3 Right ventral prefrontal cortex (RVPFC) activation is associated with social pain regulation and physical pain regulation. et al., 2003). They were told that they were playing Cyberball against two other players on the Internet. When these other "players" excluded the study participants from the game, the participants' functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) records showed increased activity in the anterior cingulate cortex-a brain area that is linked to the uncomfortable feeling of physical pain. The more the participants reported that they felt rejected and distressed in the Cyberball game, the higher was their neural response in this area. The Cyberball participants also showed increased activity in the right ventral prefrontal cortex-a region of the brain associated with regulating feelings of pain (Figure 8.3). When there was more activity in this neural region, the excluded participants reported feeling less stress. Apparently, this area of the brain is involved in reducing the distress of rejection just as it helps people manage the discomfort of physical pain. Further investigation by these researchers showed that reactions to being rejected during a Cyberball game in the virtual world were similar to reactions to social rejection in the real world (Eisenberger et al., 2007).
