Community-based supervision is often used for first-time offenders. Using the Internet and South University Online Library, review the research articles on community-based corrections. On the basis of the knowledge gained from all your readings, respond to the following questions:
1. Which types of offenders could be considered for community-based supervision instead of incarceration?
2. Should community-based programs be used to alleviate overcrowding problems in prisons and jails? Is this a valid reason to utilize community- based supervision rather than incarceration? Why or why not?
3. Are community-based corrections more appropriate for a particular purpose of punishment? Justify your answer and give an example.
