Review the interlude in textbook, the drama of scripture

Assignment task: The New Testament is full of different cultural groups (Pharisees, Saduccees, Zealots, Samaritans, and more) that each had different beliefs and motivations.  Understanding these different groups helps us to understand how they interact with Jesus and others in the New Testament.

Review "The Interlude" in your textbook, The Drama of Scripture

Read " Key Social Groups Key Social Groups - Alternative Formats "

This assignment allows for a bit of creativity.  You will be creating a fictional character and writing a fictional story about your character.

This character will be based on a real cultural group that existed in the New Testament.

describe a day in the life of ONE person of the cultural group of your choosing.  Pick one of the following:

  • Pharisees
  • Sadducees
  • Samaritans
  • Essenes

You need to include at least five things that make this person different or stand out.  You can include things like what they believed about the OT, about the Messiah, how they got along with other groups, where they lived, what they did for work, how they dressed, and many more things.

This should be a creative assignment but make sure to include data from our reading for this week and cite it correctly.
