Review chapter - the gift of therapy

Problem:

After reading through chapter 25 in "The Gift of Therapy" (Yalom, 2017), you may have reflected on how each client is truly viewed as an individual. Consider the statement, "the therapist must strive to create a new therapy for each patient" (Yalom, 2017, p. 34). Consider how you may be able to strive for this as a counselor-in-training. Include discussion on empathy and building rapport with potential clients. How do you think you will be able to manage being one therapist to your client, yet having many clients as one therapist? Yalom (2017) also writes about being in the here-and-now. He states, "you must develop here-and-now rabbit ears" (Yalom, 2017, p. 49). How do you think being in the here-and-now would help you individualize each session? Make an original post reflecting upon this discussion, and make a reply to at least one classmate following your original posting. Yalom, I.D. (2017). The gift of therapy: An open letter to a new generation of therapists and their patients. HarperCollins. See discussion board rubric for guidelines. Need Assignment Help?
