Clinical Scenario:
You are asked to see a 47-year-old man who sustained a left-hemisphere CVA nine months ago. He does not have any hemiparesis. During the evaluation, he has trouble following simple directions and answering yes/no questions. He speaks in sentences with normal intonation patterns, but the words he uses are mostly nonsensical.
Case Study

1. Professional Reference: Submit a summary of a peer reviewed journal article in the professional literature relevant to the clinical scenario (No more than 1 page single space). Use a database like Pubmed, Scopus, or Google Scholar to search for your article. Cite the reference in APA style along with your article summary. The summary should include: a) the purpose of the study, b) description of the subjects in the study (age, gender, disorders or impairment/disorder), c) description of the methods (what was measured and how was it measured), d) a description of the general results of the study (what did they find, what conclusions were made), e) a description of how the article relates to the case study.
2. Differential Diagnosis: Submit a one-paragraph argument supporting why you think the case represents one diagnosis over another (e.g., articulation disorder versus phonological processes disorder; sensorineural versus conductive hearing loss) with citations from the textbook or class handouts (i.e., list the page number(s) of the text or name of the handout where you found your information, use APA style).
3. Treatment Recommendation/Prognostic Statement: Submit a one-paragraph summary of whether or not the individual would be a candidate for therapy, what kind of treatment you would recommend, and the individual's prognosis for success. Cite in APA style the page number(s) of the text or name(s) of the handout(s) where you found your information.
