Problem 1: Today, USDA supports and invests in local and regional food projects from coast to coast, in every state-that was not always the case. When Secretary Vilsack took office in 2009, "local food" was still a relatively new concept. Right out of the gate, USDA gave new priority to giving consumers what they had been asking for: a stronger connection to their food.

Problem 2: The war between Russia and Ukraine has cause exports of grains from Ukraine to slow. Ukraine is one of the largest exporters of corn and wheat globally. Recently, Russia has agreed to move forward with a trade deal that would allow grains to again flow from the Ukraine.
Problem 3: India this month imposed tariffs on almonds and 27 other American products, including apples and walnuts, in retaliation for the U-S tariffs on steel and aluminum.
