Question (a): Your answer should be based around a diagram, which can have a similar layout to the one in Figure 9.1 of Information Management in Context (Hinton, 2009, p. 112). If you are able to include more information systems for some functions than others, but think about how this may influence your answer to Question (b). You can indicate core and outsourced information systems on your diagram, and/or in brief accompanying notes. Because your answer will focus on a diagram, you will probably need a relatively small proportion of the suggested 1500 words for this part of your answer to Part 1.
Question (b): This question requires you to analyse your chosen organisation's information systems and approach to information management from a strategic perspective. You will have encountered all the necessary concepts, frameworks and theories in Session 77 (Strategy and information systems). This session also made extensive use of two textbook chapters (Chapters 11 and 12 of Hinton). Try to present your analysis as concisely as you can. A number of the concepts and theories make use of diagrams, so you may choose to adapt and develop some of these diagrams to show the particular strategic perspective for your chosen organisation.
