1. Post-war Recessions in the UK
Using the data given in the File:
1. (a) Identify the periods of recession in the United Kingdom since 1955, stating clearly the criteria that you are using to define recessions.
2. (b) Analyse and compare the characteristics of each recession that you identify, in particular in terms of: output; consumption; investment; employment; and prices.
3. (c) Identify and evaluate the relative importance of the principal drivers of the recessions.
4. (d) Briefly review the relevance of your results to economic understanding of the causes of recessions and of the insurance of Fiscal and monetary policy choices.
