Q. In an ideal transformer, the transformer ratio is 1:20.The input voltage and the input power are 6 V and 600 mW respectively. Compute the primary and the secondary currents.

Solution:

         EpIp = 600 mW                         = 600 X 10-3 W

      Primary current Ip             = EpIp / Ep = 600 X 10-3/ 6 = 100 X 10 -3A

       Ip / Is        = 1 /20

Secondary current is               = Ip X 20 = 2000 X 10 -3 A = 2 A
