It must be evident from the table above that acute diarrhoea generally occurs in association with infections, poisons and drugs. Chronic diarrhoea on the other hand are the result of long-term diseases such as malabsorption syndromes, deficiency of GI secretions, chronic deficiencies/allergies etc.
