1. How can Christians be so Messed Up? - Due Sunday

Instructions:

This week's readings revealed many deeply rooted problems within the Early Church and Paul's attempt to provide instruction and correction to the congregations under his care.

Take a step back from the individual errors, oversights, and sin committed and held by individuals within these early churches and in approximately 500 words, address these questions:

2. Church leaders always try to address wrong activities with as little publicity as possible. What is one positive and one negative of handling things in this more secretive manner?

3. What is the potential impact of not addressing sin within a congregation?

4. Why, in your opinion, is God so patient when Christians' lives obviously are not honoring Him?

From the options listed below, choose one controversy and explain it by answering these questions:

1. Which passage did you chose?

2. Explain the basic situation that was happening in the early church that caused Paul to write the passage?

3. Provide Paul's correction or instruction on the subject.

4. Pull one part of the discussion and make application to a similar situation faced today by the church or society as a whole. Provide at least

TWO sources for your presentation and properly format the references - one source can be the Bible.

5. CAUTION: some of these passages are parts of longer instructions that must be understood to correctly interpret and apply the passage. 1 Corinthians 11 and 13 are such examples.

6. Personality hero worship (1 Corinthians 1:10-17 and 3:1-9)

7. Immoral living (1 Corinthians 5)

8. Litigation in the Body (I Corinthians 6:1-11)

9. Sexual impurity (1 Corinthians 6:12-20)

10. Food sacrificed to idols (1 Corinthians 8)

11. Head covering during public worship (I Corinthians 11:1-16)

12. Unity and the Lord's Supper (I Corinthians 11:17-34)

13. Unity and diversity in the church (I Corinthians 13)

14. Make initial post

15. 250-300 words
