Purpose of the Study
The purpose of this IPA study is to explore how Jamaican left-behind spouses psychologically interpret and make sense of migration-related marital separation. Particular attention is given to how participants interpret prolonged separation in relation to shared decision-making, perceived autonomy, coping experiences, and marital functioning.
The study focuses on legally married Jamaican men and women residing in Jamaica whose partners have migrated overseas for employment and who have experienced at least 12 months of continuous marital separation.
