Project Management:
This unit starts with the general definition of Project management. Several phases involved in project management are also desribed. Further, the techniques involved in the project management are discussed. Techniques for project management include Gantt chart, CPM and PERT. Gantt chart is visual aids whose strength lies in their simplicity and ease of understanding. CPM and PERT are the applications of basic network analysis. Activities, represented as network arcs are represented sequentially to one another and represented schematically. Some statistics such like critical path time, critical path variance and event slack are calculated to enhance the value of project management techniques. As the CPM and PERT do not consider the importance of resources, it is known as a "feasible procedure for generating a non-feasible schedule". To overcome this approach, a resource constraint project scheduling is taken into consideration. Few instances are considered to clarify the use of these techniques.
