Epimorphic Regeneration
In this sort of regeneration the lost part is reformed and restored via the growth of a bud or blastema from the remaining part of the organism followed through the blastema's re-differentiation and morphogenesis. A much studied instances is salamander limb regeneration. Briefly, in this type of regeneration, a bud or blastema is formed at the site of amputation. The blastema contains the cells which will make the regenerated part, and IS encountered in the regenerative processes of all animals where Epimorphic regeneration takes place. The blastema is made up of cells that look very much alike despite their diverse origins from dissimilar tissues of the residual stump.
