project control processes cannot be

Project control processes cannot be overemphasised in their significance to the success of a project. The project manager must continually take a pro-active approach in controlling a project.

Discuss the actions the project manager should take as a project progresses to make sure effective project control.

Project Planning

The early stages of the project must be spent carefully establishing a baseline plan that gives a clear explanation of how the project scope will be accomplished on time, to budget and using available resources. The plan is establishing the targets that require to be controlled throughout the project.

The resource plan checks peaks and troughs of workload to ensure the plan is feasible and will list purchases to be bought. This enables the control of limited resources.

The time plan lists all of the activities, who will do what and how long every activity is planned to take. This contains the milestone finish dates of each stage of the project lifecycle and the estimated completion date of the whole project. This activates the control of critical activities.
