That's where collectivist thinking comes in, putting the group's well-being first instead of only focusing on individual success. At the same time, I still understand the importance of personal accountability, because individualism pushes people to work hard and be independent.
My view on success is also shaped by both perspectives. I do believe in working for your own goals and building your own life, but I don't think success means anything if you're doing it alone or leaving others behind. In individualistic cultures, success is usually defined by personal achievement and independence, while collectivist cultures focus more on group success and relationships. For me, success looks like being stable, helping my family, and creating opportunities not just for myself, but for others too.
