Problem related to manic episode

Problem: Using APA citations, provide a response to this discussion post comment

A manic episode is a period of abnormally elevated, expansive, or irritable mood with increased energy and activity that lasts at least one week (or requires hospitalization). It causes major impairment in daily functioning and may include psychotic features. Common symptoms include decreased need for sleep, racing thoughts, pressured speech, grandiosity, distractibility, risky behavior, and impulsive decision-making (American Psychiatric Association, 2022). In my work with high needs youth, mania can look like a teen sleeping only a few hours, talking nonstop, making unrealistic plans, becoming easily irritated, and engaging in risky behaviors such as substance use or legal violations. Gray (2024) emphasizes that social workers must look beyond behavior and assess mood patterns, sleep, trauma history, and substance use before making a diagnosis. Need Assignment Help?
