Case Scenario:
You are a newly hired SSW at ABC School in Anytown, USA and are anxious to get started. The first week was a typical first week in a school: excited and active students, teachers who are bustling to get back into their scheduled routines, and you trying to greet busy parents dropping their kids off in the morning as they rush to get to work/elsewhere. You got lucky enough to score morning duty outside of the front of the school. As you've gotten to know the teachers/staff and are beginning to meet students and their families, something really stands out to you. A significant portion of the students/families are of color, yet the opposite is true of the staff. Since you are new, you've decided to first observe the school climate for any social justice issues. Soon you start to see some trends related to students of color being disciplined more often and you hear several adults in the building making statements that appear to be micro-aggressions.
