Problem:
As a test administrator, there are several things to consider in terms of the administration process. As the examiner, you have to consider your duties before a test, during a test, and after a test. Duties before a test are scheduling, offering applicable informed consents, familiarizing yourself with the actual test, insuring satisfactory testing conditions, minimizing cheating, and minimizing any chances that an examinee may fake illness or injury to avoid the test (Aiken & Groth-Marnat, 2021). Duties during a test are following test directions, remaining alert, establishing rapport, preparing for unusual problems, flexibility, and oral testing (Aiken & Groth-Marnat, 2021). Duties after a test include collecting tests, securing all test materials, and any debriefing if necessary (Aiken & Groth-Marnat, 2021). These are common goals of examiners, especially in selection centers.
One of the important aspects of test administration is that every test administrator operates according to the same rules and regulations wherever they are located. This means that a test given on the East Coast will be conducted in the same manner as a test given on the West Coast. It should all be equal. Standardization is extremely important so the assessments need to be reliable and valid (Cook & Cripps, 2020). Reliability, validity and standardization can be affected by the assessment process within the workplace in many ways. Considering fairness, the assessment can cause an adverse impact, meaning the assessment excludes too many of a certain minority (Cook & Cripps, 2020). As a consultant, you will want to look at which assessments are appropriate for what you or your employer wishes to seek out. You will want an assessment that will gather the best results, the most reliable, and the most valid results which will be standardized. These are all crucial aspects of test administration.
