Problem regarding the phenomenological research

Problem:

One qualitative research design that stood out to me is phenomenological research, which focuses on understanding how people experience a specific situation and what meaning they attach to it. What I like about this approach is that it really centers on the shared human experience. Instead of focusing on one person's story, it looks across multiple individuals who have gone through something similar and tries to understand the core of that experience. It allows the researcher to step into the participant's perspective and understand how they interpret what they have gone through (Sheperis et al., 2024). When I compare this to narrative research, there are some clear differences. Narrative research is more focused on an individual's story and how their experiences unfold over time. Phenomenological research, on the other hand, is less about the timeline and more about identifying common themes across participants. So instead of focusing on one person's journey, it asks what several people experienced in a similar situation and what that experience felt like overall (Creswell & Poth, 2018). I could see phenomenological research being really useful in my own topic around Black women, hair, and identity. This approach would allow me to look at shared experiences across multiple women, such as feeling pressure to conform to certain beauty standards or navigating professional environments with natural hair. Instead of focusing on one story, I would be able to identify common themes like confidence, acceptance, or even internal conflict. Need Assignment Help?
