My name is Diana Pereira. I currently reside in Massachusetts and I am in my first year of the Masters in Social Work (MSW) program. I am currently doing an online cohort for a 3-year part program. My journey is interesting: I didn't initially choose to pursue an MSW degree. My coworker (and now classmate!) inspired me to return back to school. He was so persistent---constantly pouring into me about the value of higher education and social work profession. Eventually, my heart softened and I became open to the idea of returning to school. He created a LinkedIn account for me, helped me with my application to Springfield College, my personal essay, and wrote me a reference letter. He invested in me when I was unable to see the worth within myself. Now I'm here :). Reflecting on this first year, I have developed a genuine love for social work and recognize the vitality in our roles as providers. Although I am unsure what my niche is, I am enjoying the discovery journey.
This photo is a custom perfume that I created during a visit to Olfactory NYC for a friend's birthday activity. Perfumes are meaningful to me because they are part of how I practice self-care. Personal hygiene and presenting myself well are important to me.
