Problem: What should I observe?
To understand the "whole child" you need to observe their social interactions, their physical development, how they manage their emotions and feelings, how they problem-solve when tasked with new developmental skills, how they communicate with their peers and adults, and how they use materials and follow directions. In other words - EVERYTHING a child does and says! In addition to observing each child as an individual, it's important to look at small group interactions, along with large group interactions.
