The first time that I had a social interaction with someone from a different culture was when I was employed at the Salvation Army, and my bosses were from India. Obviously, I knew some things in general would be different, and I had an idea of what they could be; I never really experienced it first-hand. Their marriage was an arranged marriage, and even though you would think that most people would dislike that, it seemed to work for them really well. It was like they were best friends, and there wasn't anything that they didn't know about each other at all. The type of food that they would eat, along with how they cook it, was all different, and even though I had never tried anything they usually brought, it did not change anything about the situation at all. There are so many different social constructs from all over the world, and if someone gets an opportunity to experience one unfamiliar to them, I suggest always keeping an open mind about it.
