When it comes to human trafficking in the U.S., the data shows clearly that Texas is the state facing the most challenges. Another issue is that Texas has many large cities, big ports, and a long border with Mexico, which makes it relatively easy for criminals to target victims. This is what really separates Texas from the other top states like California or New York. Those states have big cities and trafficking problems too, but Texas is the only one with an extensive land border with Mexico, which makes it both a destination and a major transit corridor for trafficking networks moving people deeper into the U.S. A lot of vulnerable people enter Texas every single year.
