I really enjoyed reading your post and learning about how, in Scandinavian countries, gender equality and emotional expression are encouraged. I think this approach would have been helpful during my own childhood. Growing up, I was taught that it wasn't okay to cry as a boy and that I shouldn't expect affection from my family. For a long time, I believed that was just how life was, until I met my wife. She taught me how to express my feelings and talk about them instead of keeping them bottled up.
