Problem about ethical and cultural considerations

Problem:

Ethical and cultural considerations on this scenario - Jordan is a 16-year-old born and raised in Australia. They are an athlete, a competitive swimmer. They are a promising elite performer in their age group but are presently underperforming in comparison to their earlier standards. During their first session with the psychologist, they said that they felt like they had been "training too much and too intensely" in the previous pre-season and described what appeared to many symptoms of overtraining syndrome, including prolonged fatigue.

During a previous competition, Jordan finished second to last, which was an unexpected shock. As a result, they felt ashamed and became extremely nervous before competitions. Their feelings of anxiety persisted during the entirety of their last season and have continued into the new season, which has just begun. The anxiety has already caused them to avoid at least one meet this season.

In their first session, Jordan said, "I just want to swim like I used to, without this anxiety." They have also said that just being at a competition site and talking with friends causes them distress, and that their anxieties are heightened before a meet and increase as the start of the race approaches. They worry about competitions for several weeks beforehand. Their anxiety-which centers around a feeling of being frightened-is also heightened when they experience lactic acid build up in their thighs, also called 'heavy legs'. In response to their physiological and social anxieties associated with their sport, Jordan tends to decrease their pace during competition, and avoid training with their peers. Their aim is to compete again like they used to, without feeling excessive anxiety. Need Assignment Help?
