Problem about development of my cultural identity

Problem:

The development of my cultural identity was shaped by my education beliefs and traditions. I was raised in a two-parent home with traditional values placed on marriage, and gender roles. My mother was a housewife, while my father was the breadwinner. "Microaggressions are thought to stem from unconscious racism and may be directed towards any marginalized group including, but not limited to, gender, sexual orientation, or race (Lui,2020; Lui & Quezada, 2019)."( Datta et al., 2025).I might assume a client that also comes from a traditional two parent household holds the same ideas about gender roles where they chose the break away from the norm. By listening and avoiding giving your opinion or advice. Maintaining an open mind and allow for clients to open-up about their own experiences and acknowledge any self-biases. "Counselors commit a microaggression when they believe that members of nondominant groups have less potential than their peers from dominant groups."(McAuliffe,2019) Engage in self-reflection by ask yourself reflective questions and how might they influence your approach to counseling. I would adopt a stance of curiosity and proactively initiate open dialogues about identity, power, and privilege to understand the differences and similarities of the client's background.
