Problem 2 a cantilever wall is shown below the backfill

Problem 1: A sheet pile has a distance from the top of the wall to the dredge line of 10m. At a distance of 5m back from wall, a line load of 15kN/m is applied. Compute the magnitude of the lateral resultant from the line load and determine how far from the top of the wall its is.

Problem 2: A cantilever wall is shown below. The backfill properties are as shown. Assuming that ?/3 for a soil-wall interfaces and neglecting the passive pressure around the toe of the wall, determine the following:

(a) Factor of safety against sliding.

(b) Eccentricity of the resultant load on the foundation, and whether it is within the kern.

(c) Bearing pressure on the foundation, using the equivalent footing method.

Problem 3: For the previous, compute Ph and Pc using Tezaghi "low walls" method. Is this a reasonable result? Can the method's own parameters be used to justify its use?

Problem 4: An MSE wall 5 m high is to be designed. The backfill for the wall is γ = 15.7 kN/m3, ? = 36o, cu = 0kPa and the soil at the base is γ = 18 kN/m3, ? = 22o, cu = 28kPa. Geotextile reinforcement is to be employed, Tu = 52.5KN/m, RFID = 1.2, RFCR = 2.5, RFCD = 1.25, RFBD = 1.0. For the wall determine the following:

(a) Vertical spacing of the geotextiles h.

(b) Length of reinforcement L.

(c) Factor of safety against cverturning.

(d) Factor of safety against sliding.

Problem 5: An MSE wall is 50' high. Assuming the properties of the previous problem and a level backfill, what is the distance from the wall to the boundary between the active and passive zones at the top of the wall?

Provide response to each part of the following physics problem by showing the complete computation part all along with the concepts and formulas used. Q1: A sheet pile consists of a distance from the top of the wall to the dredge line of 10m. At a distance of around 5m back from wall, a line load of 15kN/m is applied. Calculate the magnitude of lateral resulting from the line load and find out how far from the top of the wall is? Q2: A cantilever wall is illustrated. The backfill properties are as depicted. Neglecting the passive pressure about the toe of the wall, find out the given: i) Factor of safety against sliding ii) Eccentricity of the resulting load on the base, and whether it is in the kern. iii) Bearing pressure on base, employing the equivalent footing technique.
