I need help proving my thesis for my philosophy paper. My thesis is: "The study of the origin of the Earth is scientific because scientists like chemists, astronomers, and anthropologists study aspects of the origin of the Earth with important scientific tools in order to closely observe such aspects of the Earth." Positivists say that if you have meaningful methods of studying something, then it's scientific. Positivists also say that anything studied by means of observations is scientific. What else can help me prove that the origin of the Earth is scientific? Why is anything studied by means of observation scientific? Is it because like Kuhn says, we actually do see electrons and atoms and other microscopic things when we are properly trained to see things through scientific tools? Are scientists properly trained to do so?
