The losses caused by the seas fall into two categories: total loss and partial loss. Partial loss means a partial damage to or the total loss part of the insured cargo. Partial loss can be divided into particular average and general average. Particular average refers to a partial loss suffered by part of the cargo. General average is based on a relationship between the ship-owner and all the shippers who have cargo aboard the same vessel on a particular voyage. Please tell each of the following cases belong to particular average or general average?

(1) If in a storm part of the cargo on the deck is washed into the sea and the whole vessel is sailing safely.

(2) Ten per cent of the cotton yarn cargo was burned when the ship caught fire.

(3) A ship with several cargoes (belonging to owner A, B, C and D) may have run aground and the screw was broken. All efforts to refloat it have failed. In order to save the ship from breaking up, the mast decided to jettison part of the cargoes (Owner B's) to lighten the ship. The ship has to be towed by a tug into a port for repairing.
