Task: For this ‘problem statement' you are required to do the following:
Identify a "problem" relevant to planning or broader built environment and/or natural environment. Write a "policy brief" to articulate the importance and relevance of the problem to an appropriate ‘Manager of Planning/Building/Environment etc.' at a local, state, or national government. Make a case.
Further Instructions: The problem is yours to identify. We strongly recommend that you follow the advice, and recommended format provided by DeMarco and Adams Tufts (2014) regarding writing ‘policy briefs'. The components should include:
1) Title
2) Executive Summary
3) Background and Significance
4) Problem Statement (articulation of the research problem, specific question to be addressed, and case for it to be funded by government)
5) Reference List (not included in the word count)
