"Apotheosis of Homer" by Ingres
"Stormy Coast Scene after Shipwreck" by Emile-Jean-Horace Vernet
"The Raft of the Medusa" by Gericault
These areas are explored:
1) The description of how the works fit to the context of the time period.
2) Compare and contrast the three works in terms of form, content and subject matter. By using the terminology and concepts which you have learned in the course, describe the similarities and differences in the styles of the works and the context in which they were made. Differentiate their aesthetic qualities and symbolic significance, and also the artists' points of view. Your personal point of view which you have developed all through the paper will be summarized here.
