Personality profile based on big five model of personality

Problem 1. Discussion of the Personality Profile based on Big Five model of personality (surgency, agreeableness, adjustment, conscientiousness, and openness to experience)

The Big Five Model:

Surgency-is the ability to persuade or influence individuals to understand your point of view, vision, mission, and/or objective and is willing to follow your lead as a result. One of the character traits of surgency is competitiveness. Donald Trump is extremely competitive, with that said he creates an environment of competitive subordinates and/or followers.

Agreeableness- in my opinion is one character trait that promotes indecisiveness. A leader must be in a position to consider feedback of his/her colleagues however the final decision should be a collection of substantive facts and evidence supporting the theory of change implementation and risk management. When I observe leaders who tend to agree often, I find it difficult to follow their lead when necessary. This type of flaw opens the door to confusion at times if the leader places great emphasis on the viewpoint of the staff without drawing his/her own conclusions. A leader must take every viewpoint under advisement before making a decision and implementing a strategic action plan.

Adjustment-is fundamental for any leader for the reason that change is an ongoing process, especially in terms of technological advancements where organizations must continuously refresh their general approach to business in order to exceed the demand of their chosen demographic audience. Managers must be willing to identify trends within the internal and external framework of an organization and must be able to evolve with the rapid changes. Leaders must always maintain abreast of the competition and venture into benchmarking practices in order to determine what methods of operation are the best to utilize.

Conscientiousness-I find that this personality trait is ordinarily one that enables the leader to identify what is right or wrong within an organization. The leader is most assuredly aware of his/her followers and is able to identify a follower's area of strengths and weaknesses and is able to delegate tasks accordingly.

Openness to experience-this is where innovation takes over. A leader who is open to experiences is often accessible to the ideas of creative concepts. Leaders, executives, managerial decision makers are prone to keeping their eyes and ears open for the next big idea or innovative strategy that places their organization 50 paces ahead of the competition. If you observe the telecommunications industry, especially in today's media frenzy you would witness how each organization actively engages in one up-man-ship which means these organizations are always trying to outdo one another with the latest brand in technology in which case each source of innovation gets better and is more convenient than the previous device of technology.

Problem 2. Discussion of Leadership Behavior or motivational style

An effective leader is one who possesses transformational and transactional styles of leaders. Motivational styles of leadership in essence is a subdivision of transformational/transaction for the reason that this type of leader is able to greatly influence individuals to the point of evoking and provoking a different viewpoint of change management strategies. This type of leader often has the respect of their peers and colleagues because they are identified as leaders who have the best interest of their followers and the organization at heart.

I find that Donald Trump executes the aforementioned leadership styles. His leadership style tends to correlate to relationship theories (otherwise acknowledged as Transformational Theories) - which focuses on the associations created between leaders and followers. These leaders encourage and motivate people by assisting group members to recognize the significance and high-quality of the assignment. Transformational leaders focus on the accomplishments of group members, and desire each person to realize his or her potential. "These leaders often have high ethical and moral standards." (Vanwagner, 2009).
