Research Topic:
Each group will be required to critically address the research topic (see below) providing supporting examples where appropriate. Students should be prepared to draw from different sources and provide an evaluation of relevant scholarly perspectives pertaining to each question covered.
Globalisation is a complex phenomenon and the global business environment is dynamic. Write a report on the challenges faced by organisations engaged in global business in contemporary times and identify the essential skills and competencies that global managers require to operate efficiently and effectively in the dynamic and complex global business environment. Make recommendations on what the Human Resources departments in these organisations can do to develop, nurture and cultivate the identified skills and competencies.
NB: If you intend to contact any organisation for the purpose of completing this research project, students must provide the unit lecturer and tutor with full details of the organisation before any such contact is made. Further, it is expected that students keep the unit lecturer and tutor fully informed throughout the semester as any industry or external organisational contacts develop.
