"Grabbing a Reader's Attention"

One of the best ways to build your writing skills is to make it a habit to "read as a writer." Reading as a writer simply requires you to pay attention to how things you read are constructed. If you read as a writer, you collect effective strategies while also learning how to avoid ineffective writing skills.
For this discussion board, we are focusing on writing strong introductions. As you know from our course readings, there are many ways to write an effective introduction. Answer the following question to help us build on this knowledge:
- What is one example of an introduction from an essay or story that you think is effective? Copy and paste the introduction here. You may use one of the selected essays used for Assignment 1 inThe brief McGraw-Hill guide: Writing for college, writing for life,or you may wish to use an example from Purdue's Online Writing lab sample essays (https://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/), or something else that you've recently read and would like to share.
- Why is the sample introduction you pasted for #1 effective? Explain specifically why you think this is effective.
- Will you use this introduction strategy in your writing? Explain.
