Name independent variable in my example uv bead experiment

Problem

Let's practice using the scientific method to answer the following question: Which sunscreen offers the best protection from UV rays?

I want to know which sunscreen is the best sunscreen to use to protect from harmful UV rays. Choose 5 different types of sunscreens to test - they may vary in SPF and/or brand name. We will NOT use humans as our test subjects! Thankfully, there are beads that can be used that react to UV light. They are clear until exposed to UV light, then they turn bright colors. There are also plastic discs that can absorb UV-A Light or not. Great for experimentation with UV Beads!

Check out the UV detecting beads video!

Using these items DESIGN an experiment that tests "Which sunscreen offers the best protection from UV rays?".

o Remember to have an independent variable, a dependent variable, and control variables.

Initial Post: Describe your Experimental Design

1. Describe an experimental design and setup to test the sunscreens protection from UV light. Make sure to identify the independent, dependent, and control variables. How many groups will you have? What will you measure? How?

2. Name the independent variable in my example UV bead experiment.

3. Name the dependent variable in my example UV bead experiment.

4. Name one controlled or standard variable in my example UV bead experiment.
