1) Choose a person, place, or thing. Write a paragraph using only report language to describe it. Then, write a paragraph about the same person, place, or thing, but use loaded words and words with built-in judgments to describe it.
2) Write your own (not from the video) examples of an attitude, a belief, and a value. It may be helpful to think about attitudes as likes/dislikes; beliefs as ideas we see as true or false. Values as things we see as right/wrong; good/evil.
3) Read the following short story. Then, read the statements about the story. If the statement is definitely true based on the story, mark it as "T." If the statement is definitely false based on the story, mark it as "F." If the statement is an inference, mark it as an "I" and indicate what knowledge is being inferred.
Mike is in the hospital. He has been there for four days. He doesn't know when we will be going home.
a) Mike is sick.
b) Mike is at the hospital.
c) Mike has been in the hospital for 96 hours.
d) Mike is dead.
