Assignment
1. List the communication techniques that you used during the session to both gather information from the client, as well as work with the client generally. Discuss why you selected these techniques and how effective they were.
2. Make sure you use all of the communication techniques that you learnt from your training at least once across the sessions with the three clients.
3. Describe the additional information that you gained from the client during this session.
4. Describe the structured approach that you took during this session to ensure you met the client's needs and expectations.
5. Describe the information that you provided to your client to help them understand the scope and nature of the counselling service you offer. This must also include what your client has right to expect from the counselling process, as well as your professional limitations in relation to being a counsellor.
6. Describe how you clarified, confirmed or modify your client expectations of the counselling service you offer.
7. Describe any client anxieties about the counselling process. How did you explore this with your client? If the client did not raise any anxieties, give an example of a possible anxiety and how you would address this.
8. Describe how you acknowledged and showed for your client's immediate concerns.
9. Describe how you clarified expectations and commitment to the counselling relationship and confirmed this with clients.
10. Were there any indicators for this client that you believe are outside the scope of your role. If this issue did not occur, write down an example of an issue that you consider would be beyond your role and to whom you would refer the client?
11. Describe the options and approaches for the relationship that you explore with your client as relevant to their needs.
12. Describe the priorities that you agreed on with your client.
