In heterosexual relationships, men are more likely to prefer an attractive mate and women are more likely to prefer a mate with financial resources. Think about how studying gay and lesbian relationships would help you figure out if this difference is due to sex (being male or female) or due to something else, like the power differential in relationships. Describe what you would predict if the difference was due to sex and then what alternative findings would lead you to conclude.
