Provide response to: Safety, love, and belonging, are three needs the LGBTQIA+ population needs within my community, as many LGBTQIA+ individuals lack these essential needs identified in Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs. Research consistently shows that LGBTQIA+ individuals often experience homophobia and violence, creating significant mental health challenges for these individuals (Gates et al., 2025). Without safety, love, and belonging, the LGBTQIA+ community will continue to face these challenges. Offering safe and inclusive spaces for the LGBTQIA+ community in Salt Lake City, Utah, can help reduce the discrimination, violence, and mental health challenges many of the individuals face. Furthermore, using education through advocacy efforts can help foster support and understanding among the general population, with a hope that the support and understanding can lead to more inclusive practices in Salt Lake City, Utah. Speaking of inclusive practices, it's also crucial to consider the disparities LGBTQIA+ individuals of color experience, as these individuals have historically faced even more challenges compared to white LGBTQIA+ individuals (Gates et al., 2025).
