Discussion:

Managers understand that the cultural dimensions of the employee base has been increasing significantly with the global economy and the understanding of and the proper integration of management styles to those differing cultures is essential for organizational success. The reading increased my understanding of the link leadership of a multinational organizational learning within a successful internationalization process and how managers need to recognize the disparities and relationships in the expectations of leaders across cultures by utilizing the global leadership and organizational behavior effectiveness research

Implications for future research, Resick et al. (2006) suggested that leaders are in the position of social power, ethical leadership focuses on how leaders use their social power in the decisions they make, actions they engage in, and ways they influence others. Cotae (2010) explained how leadership is seen as charged with enabling the existence of a learning organization, which in turn would provide meaningful data/information for an educated decision making process with regards to strategy formulation and the undertaking of any additional globalization efforts.

As a manager, the need to understand the dynamics of the cross-cultural interaction is crucial to organizational success. Cotae (2010) expressed different degrees of involvement and interactivity between internationalization, organizational learning, and leadership, and the differences between voluntarism verses determinism and methodical verses emergent paradigms.

All the articles have their limitations. Resick et al. (2006) limitations apply to the assumed characteristics of the research because they are based on a western view of ethics and the research does not address outside views. In addition, Cotae (2010) could consider expanding their research that includes multiple facets of evaluation of leadership modes and conduct a qualitative study that gathers information concerning organizational learning and leadership decision making from both leaders and followers in multiple countries. These actions seem simplistic, but understanding the limitations of each study and using your knowledge to apply each study to particular situations is a crucial aspect of management decision-making.
