Is my granddaughters gravitation to girl

Problem: My 5 year old granddaughter wrote her Christmas list last year in early October. On her list were lip balm, nail polish, a compact mirror and a unicorn make up bag.

Since birth, my daughter and son-in-law have insisted that she only receive gender-neutral gifts, no pink dresses, etc. They avoided buying her traditional baby girl clothing and didn't expose her to traditional girl activities, e.g. playing with dolls. They wanted her to make her own decisions.

In the last year, my granddaughter has taken a liking to all thing pink and likes to play "dress up" in frilly dresses and the such. Her favorite color is now pink. My son-in-law actually acquiesced a few weeks ago and painted her bed frame bright pink.

My question - Is my granddaughter's gravitation to "girl" related things a product of nature or nurture as we're studying in the Case assignment?
