Is it important to preserve linguistic diversity?
Is it important to preserve linguistic diversity? If not, please give an argument for why a world or a society with fewer languages would be okay. Address the issues we discussed in class when we talked about Native American languages. If you do think it is important, give arguments why preserving languages is important for and/or beneficial to the society. Do you think it should be supported with public funds? Or should supporting the survival of endangered languages be a private endeavor by the communities that are affected? Please give an argument in support of or against using public resources to preserve languages.
